Stories and Highlights

There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.

A Year at our School

K-6 Dance and Choir Events

Throughout the year, our Junior and Senior Dance/Choir groups have the opportunity to participate in a number of performances and showcases. Some of these include the  Blacktown Festival of Performing Arts and Pulse Alive.

Kindergarten Excursion

The annual Kindy Excursion to the zoo is a highlight for our youngest learners at Marayong Heights Public School. This exciting adventure gives Kindergarten students the opportunity to see amazing animals up close, explore the wonders of nature, and discover new things outside the classroom. The excursion sparks curiosity, supports hands-on learning, and helps students develop an appreciation for wildlife and conservation. It’s also a chance to create lasting memories, strengthen friendships, and experience the joy of learning together in a fun and engaging environment.

Easter Hat Parade

Our annual Easter Hat Parade is a beloved part of our school calendar! Our students have the opportunity to show off their incredible Easter hat creations. The Easter Bunny even joins in on the fun!

Book Week

At Marayong Heights Public School, Book Parade and Book Week are much-loved annual events that celebrate our students’ love of reading and creativity. During Book Week, we immerse ourselves in stories, literature activities, and author visits, inspiring a lifelong passion for books. The highlight is our colourful Book Parade, where students proudly dress up as their favourite book characters and share their favourite stories with the school community. These festivities foster imagination, encourage literacy, and bring our school community together, making reading a fun and memorable shared adventure for everyone.

Stage 3 Camp

At Marayong Heights Public School, Stage 3 students look forward to the exciting annual camp experience, which alternates each year between an educational trip to Canberra and an action-packed Sports and Recreation camp. The Canberra camp offers students a unique opportunity to explore our nation’s capital, engaging with history, government, and culture through interactive and memorable activities. The Sports and Recreation camp provides a dynamic environment where students participate in a variety of physical challenges, team-building exercises, and outdoor adventures that promote fitness and resilience. Both camps foster independence, teamwork, and personal growth, creating lasting memories and valuable life skills beyond the classroom.

NAIDOC Week

Students and staff celebrate NAIDOC Week each year by wearing mufti clothes in the Aboriginal flag colours of red, black and yellow. All classes learnt about the history of NAIDOC Week to recognise Australian Aboriginal culture, history and achievements. Our students also have the opportinuty to learn Traditional Indigenous games like Kai (a cooperative ball game) and Munhanganing (a game like Tips). Students also spend time in the Bush Tucker Garden, where Yarning Circle discussions take place.

P&C Disco

Our annual P&C Disco at Marayong Heights Public School is a much-anticipated event that brings students, families, and staff together for a night of fun and celebration. Organised by our supportive P&C, the disco provides students with an opportunity to enjoy music, dance, and connect with friends in a lively and safe school environment. The event builds school spirit, celebrates our vibrant community, and gives everyone a chance to let their hair down and make joyful memories. It’s a wonderful way to foster friendships, strengthen family-school partnerships, and ensure every student feels part of our caring school community.

P&C Mother's & Fathers Day Stalls & Breakfast

Our P&C and dedicated parent/carer volunteers host our annual Mother's and Father's Day stalls.

We also run a breakfast for these events, bring our community together. These events are a beloved part of our school calendar!

Selected students from Years 3 to 6 are taking part in an exciting STEAM Team Challenge—a non-competitive program involving several local schools. This initiative aims to strengthen students’ skills in coding, robotics, and digital technologies, all while encouraging collaboration and creative problem-solving.

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day is a special annual event at our school, celebrating the invaluable role grandparents play in our students’ lives and learning journeys. Each year, we welcome grandparents and families to join us for open classrooms, where they can experience firsthand the wonderful activities and learning taking place. The day also includes a picnic recess and a showcase performance, providing opportunities for connection, fun, and celebration. Grandparents Day is a cherished tradition that strengthens our community and honours the invaluable contributions of our grandparents.

Song Room

Big beats, smooth vibes and BIG gratitude! Our amazingly talented Year 6 students have been bringing the creativity and flow in The Song Room, creating their very own songs inspired by being “Grateful”! From finding their rhythm to putting their own words and feelings into music, they’ve been showing off some serious talent. A massive shout-out to the incredible musicians who shared their skills, inspired creativity and helped make this experience one to remember!
